The Salvation Army Port Macquarie will be having a “Pleasant Sunday Afternoon of Music” this Sunday 25th July 2.00pm in the Citadel at 110 Lord Street.
The salvation army are having a series of these throughout the year to showcase some of the local musicians and groups within our town and to invite the public into their church.

There Guest soloist for this Sunday will be Peter Murphy. Peter is the Principal of St Pauls School and has an incredible Baritone/Tenor voice. Peter has performed in various musicals over the years and with player’s theatre on occasions.

He will be accompanied by Lydia Wills on the piano as well as singing with the Port Macquarie Salvation Army Songsters. Also featured will be the Port Macquarie Salvation Army Brass Band under the leadership of Dr Graeme Lucas. They will be playing a variety of stirring marches, “Memory from Cats” as well as a beautiful arrangement on the well know hymn “Trust and Obey called “Constant Trust by Eric Ball.

2 young soloists from the band will also perform and they are Brad Lucas and Michael Cooper. Brad the son of DR Lucas, is in his final year of High School and will be heading to the Conservatorium of music next year in Sydney. Brad has become one of the best Euphonium Players in the State under the tuition of Jason Hiese and will perform “The Carnival of Venice” accompanied by Lydia Wills.

Michael Cooper is also going to the conservatorium next year leaving his trade as an apprentice builder. He will perform the beautiful and moving Cornet solo “The Lord’s Prayer” accompanied by the band.

Entrance to this feast of music is free and an afternoon of pure musical pleasure is guaranteed.
Hope to see some of our band members and family there on Sunday.
