The Senior Concert Band has completed its tour of
outlying areas of the municipality, performing at Comboyne, Rollands
Plains, Beechwood and Long Flat/Ellensborough. Audience numbers were
seriously disappointing, especially to travel 34 players over 100kms
return for the apparent response. After all we could go to the Port Mac
Town green on a Tuesday night and play to 100's of people and most
players only travel less than 10Km! There are other aspects to this tour, such as taking music to the outlying people and places of the municipality and creating a more cohesive ensemble through the time spent in each others company in getting on site and enjoying intermission and 'full-time' over coffee and a drink. The feed-back from each community has been invariably positive. At the venue with the lowest turnout the Band has planted the seed of a full scale community afternoon as the focus of a return visit in 2012. As those who remember our first "On The Green' on a Tuesday evening would recall, from little things big things can grow. |
